Tips for A Safe Holiday

The holidays are a joyous time for many people.  The cheer and festivities of the season influence people to become more generous and giving.  The holidays can also cause many people to let their guard down, giving unsuspecting opportunities for criminals to take advantage of shoppers and vacationers alike throughout the country.  The outcomes are an increase in the number of thefts, burglaries and assaults during the holidays.

You can protect yourself and lessen your chances of becoming a victim of crime during the holidays.  Privacy for Cops would like to offer some helpful tips and reminders to assist you in having a safe holiday season.  Below is a list of suggestions you can use or pass along to others.  This list can even serve as a personal reminder for law enforcement in an effort to protect their police safety and police privacy.

  1. Make sure to lock all windows, doors leading into your home, and units outside your home such as storage sheds.
  2. Leave some interior lights on inside of your home when you are away, and a television or perhaps a radio.
  3. Lock your vehicle doors at all times, even if you are away from your car only briefly.
  4. Be extra  cautious of unexpected strangers who come to your home, especially those who appear to be delivery drivers, those who pose as sales people, or those soliciting donations.
  5. Do not drink and drive and never leave your drink unattended at any holiday party or restaurant.

The holidays can be a memorable and extraordinary time for all of us and with these extra safety precautions, you can hope to enjoy your holiday with added security.  And do not forget to recommend for the holidays our Privacy Kit for a fellow public official or law enforcement agent.

Happy Holidays from Privacy for Cops!
